Thank you to those who have followed us during 2016. It has a been an exiting year with festival gigs, a collaboration with storyteller Mikael Öberg, church concerts and the premier of our folk music course SOLFOLKET! Emma has also been nominated for a Swedish Grammy with the project Blåferdi with Lena Willemark, and Daniel’s project Nybyggnan as been chosen to give a showcase at the Swedish Folk Awards 2017.
We are really looking forward to 2017, especially to our 6-week tour of the UK (with our family and our caravan!). Thanks to the Swedish Arts Council for their support. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Coming up: This autumn we are setting up a brand new folk music course outside our hometown of Järna. 5 weekends in a year, for all ages. There will be ensemble and singing workshops for anyone over 10, and a kids workshop for anyone 0-10 (plus an accompanying adult). At the moment there are almost 40 people enrolled, which is fantastic! Here is a pic from our planning meeting, with the inspiring Solvik school behind us (where the course will be held):
Daniel & Emma will be touring in the UK in May/June 2017. If you would like to book us or to hear us at a particular festival or venue then please get in touch. Which festivals could do with a little Scandinavian touch?!
A photo from our latest collaboration with the fantastic storyteller Mikael Öberg from Fabula Storytelling. Tales that give you goosebumps, alongside an intense tango and bittersweet melodies!
On Mon 7th December we will be performing in the Northern Rock Foundation Hall at the Sage Gateshead. Really looking forward to it! The Folkworks team are our heros. Please do help to spread the word!
During September Daniel & Emma have helped to raise 9951 SEK for UNHCR, to support refugees in the crisis in Syria. 100% of CD sales were donated to the cause, and audiences were invited to give what they could in exchange for a CD. People payed between 87 SEK and 500 SEK. A BIG THANK YOU for helping us to help!

It’s been a great summer filled with lovely concerts and meetings. A refreshing mix of church concerts, festival gigs, and the week of folk gatherings in Dalarna, Sweden. Emma won the Vista-Lasse award and Daniel has released an album with the project Nybyggnan. We have also completed our season as Artists in Residence at the college in Lunnevad. Very encouraging to meet so many youngsters hungry for folk music – thanks for now!
At last the warmth and light is returning and the birds are heralding the spring! We are looking forward to a spring and summer with lots of lovely gigs in Sweden, including a concert at Ransäterstämman and several summer concerts in churches, which we love for the atmosphere and the acoustic. Check out the calendar to see if we are playing near you.
The new year burst into life with a week of teaching, playing for dancing and a concert up in Malung, Dalarna. A lovely place with lovely students!
